17. Melons
If you store melons in the fridge, you should stop right now. Why you might ask? Well, when you go to the store you don’t see uncut melons in the fridge, do you? The best place in the house for a melon is the kitchen countertop. Here it gets enough light and warmth to remain good.
Be careful not to wait too long, though, because melons continue to ripen and if they ripen too far, it’s better to throw them away. Love melon, but living on your own? If you cut the melon into pieces you can devide them and put the rest in the de freezer. You can also store them in the fridge, but make sure to eat the pieces within a week. Melon will gradually loose its flavor once you put it in the refrigerator. Which isn’t the case if you put melon in the freezer. You only have to remind yourself it’s there and taking it out of the freezer in time to defrost.
